Severn Trent Begins £15 Million Project to Strengthen Water Supplies in Worcestershire

Severn Trent has officially started construction on a major new infrastructure project in Worcestershire — a £15 million distribution service reservoir (DSR) that will significantly improve the region's water storage and supply resilience.

The new facility, located in Bourneheath near Bromsgrove, will have the capacity to store an additional two megalitres (2 million litres) of treated drinking water. This extra capacity is expected to play a vital role in supporting the region’s growing population, enhancing supply reliability, and providing greater flexibility during periods of peak demand or maintenance.

The reservoir is designed to act as a key buffer in the water network, helping ensure that homes and businesses in the area continue to receive a steady, high-quality water supply — even during unexpected events or during high-usage times such as heatwaves.

Severn Trent are working closely with the local community and stakeholders to minimise disruption throughout the project.

Once completed, the Bourneheath reservoir will not only boost local water security but also contribute to the wider resilience of the West Midlands water network.
